MODIFICATION OF THE RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE RANK OF PROFESSOR EMERITUS

The President explained that in 1957 the Board established 65 as the minimum age for the rank of Professor Emeritus, and that this provision may be a deterrent to professors who wish to retire between ages 60 and 64. The following resolution was adopted:

RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the resolution of the Board establishing the rank of Professor Emeritus adopted on June 7, 1957 be and it is hereby modified to include candidates who are full professors retiring after attaining the age of 60 after at least 15 years of service in the University of Virginia.
