ACTIONS RELATING TO CHAIRHOLDERS

The following resolution was adopted:

  • RESOLVED that the actions relating to chairholders are approved as shown below:
  • (a) Election of Chairholder(s)
  • Mr. Paul E. Gold as Commonwealth Professor of Psychology, effective January 1, 1997.
  • Dr. Timothy L. Pruett as Strickler Family Professor of Transplant Surgery, effective October 1, 1996. Dr.Pruett will continue as Professor of Surgery, without term.
  • Dr. Raymond C. Roy as Distinguished Professor of Anesthesiology, effective October 16, 1996.
  • Ms. Adele N. Santos as Harry S. Shure Visiting Professor of Architecture, for the period October 1, 1996 through December 31, 1996.
  • Mr. William A. Wulf as University Professor, effective January 1, 1997. Mr. Wulf will continue as American Telephone and Telegraph Company Professor of Engineering and Applied Science.
    (b) Special Salary Action of Chairholder(s) Deleted
    (c) Resignations of Chairholders(s)

The following resignations were announced:

  • Mr. Leo I. Higdon, Jr., Charles C. Abbott Professor of Business Administration, effective June 30, 1997, to accept another position.
  • Dr. Richard W. McCallum, Paul Janssen Professor of Internal Medicine-Gastroenterology, effective October 31, 1996, to accept another position.

(d) Retirements of Chairholder(s)

The following retirements were announced:

  • Mr. Henry J. Abraham, James Hart Professor of Government and Foreign Affairs, effective January 15, 1997. Mr. Abraham has been a member of the faculty since September 1, 1971.
  • Dr. John A. Owen, Jr., James M. Moss Professor of Diabetes and Professor of Internal Medicine, effective December 31, 1996. Dr. Owen has been a member of the faculty since June 1, 1960.
  • Dr. Robert R. Wagner, Marion McNulty Weaver and Malvin C. Weaver Professor of Oncology and Professor of Microbiology, effective December 31, 1996. Mr. Wagner has been a member of the faculty since January 1, 1967.
