RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION FOR MR. AND MRS. EDWARD W. SCRIPPS

The following resolution was adopted:

  • WHEREAS, Betty Knight Scripps gave generously of her time and resources to help make the Campaign Kickoff Weekend a success; and
  • WHEREAS, Mrs. Scripps and her husband, Edward W. Scripps, gave lunch to the Lawn Society and other special friends of the University at their house, "Eagle Hill," in Albemarle County on October 6, 1995; and
  • WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Scripps' guests were entertained splendidly in a setting that was magnificent not only for its pastoral beauty but for its glorious views of the Blue Ridge Mountains; and
  • WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Scripps have been generous in their benefactions to the University, particularly to the School of Medicine;
  • RESOLVED, the Board of Visitors thank Betty Knight Scripps for her untiring work on behalf of the Capital Campaign, compliments Mr. and Mrs. Scripps for the success of their luncheon, and thanks them for their hospitality, generosity and interest in the University of Virginia.

On motion, the meeting adjourned at 1:15 p.m.
