LEAVES OF ABSENCE

  • The following resolution was adopted:
    RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the following faculty members be and they are hereby granted leave of absence:
  • Mr. Richard W. Barber, Assistant Professor of Systems Engineering, for one year, effective January 16, 1977, to participate in family business opportunity.
  • Mr. John C. Coleman, Assistant Professor of English, for one semester, effective January 16, 1977, for study and travel.
  • Mr. Charles E. Echols, Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering, for one semester, effective September 1, 1977, to take care of personal needs.
  • Mr. Kenneth G. Elzinga, Professor of Economics, for one semester, effective January 16, 1977, because of his wife's illness.
  • Mr. Daniel P. Hallahan, Associate Professor of Education, for the period January 16, 1977, through March 18, 1977, to accept an appointment as a Priorsfield Fellow, University of Birmingham.
  • Mrs. Constance B. Kuriyama, Assistant Professor of English, for the period February 28, 1977, through May 31, 1977, for personal reasons.
  • Mr. Frederick C. Mosher, Doherty Professor of Government and Foreign Affairs, for one year, effective January 16, 1977, to direct a research study to author an analytic history of the General Accounting Office as requested by The Honorable Elmer B. Statts, Comptroller General of the United States.

  • Dr. William I. Neikirk, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, for two years, effective February 16, 1977, to assume the appointment as Medical Director for the Bureau of Child Health, Virginia State Health Department.
  • Mr. David S. Solomon, Assistant Professor of Architecture, for one semester, effective January 16, 1977, to complete work on a grant from the Graham Foundation.
  • Mr. George C. Theodoridis, Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering, for one semester, effective January 16, 1977, to teach at the University of Patras, Greece.
  • Mr. Paul W. Tremper, Assistant Professor of Education, for one year, effective January 1, 1977, to serve as Acting Director of the U. S. Office of Education, Community Education Office.
