LEAVES OF ABSENCE

  • The following resolution was adopted:
    RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the following faculty members be and they are hereby granted leave of absence:
  • Mr. Daniel Albright, Associate Professor of English, for one semester, effective September 1, 1976, to accept a Guggenheim Fellowship.
  • Mr. Dennis W. Barnes, Associate Professor, General Faculty, for the period May 1, 1976 through December 31, 1976, to accept an assignment with the White House Domestic Council staff.
  • Mrs. Sandra Dijkstra, Assistant Professor of French, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1976, to devote full time to readying her dissertation for publication.

  • Mr. John R. Faulkner, Associate Professor of Mathematics, for one semester, effective September 1, 1976, for research and writing.
  • Mr. Samuel S. Fisher, Associate Professor of Aerospace Engineering, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1976, to continue his research at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratories.
  • Mr. Charles H. Giffen, Associate Professor of Mathematics, for one semester, effective January 16, 1977, to serve as Instructor at the Institute of Advanced Study, Princeton.
  • Mr. Earl A. Glosser, Associate Professor of Education, for one year, effective August 1, 1976, to continue service in the George Peabody School for Teacher's Overseas Program in Counseling Psychology.
  • Mr. Leslie E. Grayson, Professor of International Business Economics, for one semester, effective September 1, 1976, to continue visiting professorship at INSEAD.
  • Mr. William S. McKee, Professor of Law, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1976, to accept a visiting position at New York University Law School.
  • Mr. Murray Milner, Jr., Associate Professor of Sociology, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1976, to accept a Fulbright grant to India.
  • Mr. Heraliwala L. Seneviratne, Assistant Professor of Anthropology, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1976, to conduct research in the social anthropology of Buddhism.
  • Mr. Rodney L. Taylor, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1976, to accept a grant from the American Council of Learned Societies for advanced training in Chinese Studies.
  • Mr. Mario di Valmarana, Associate Professor of Architecture, for one semester, effective September 1, 1976, for research and writing.
