INCREASE IN TUITION AND FEES

In response to questions as to why the increased cost of TIAA should not be met by further tuition increases rather than increased fees, the President explained that tuition payments go into a state fund. He said that appropriations from state funds for TIAA are not permitted under current regulations. Fees, on the other hand, can be held in local funds from which payments to TIAA are authorized.

The following resolution was adopted:

  • RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that effective 1 September 1970, for all schools except the Graduate School of Business Administration, increases in tuition as shown below be and they are hereby approved:
  • TUITION
  • Virginia Students tuition increased by $35.00 per session
  • Out-of-State Students tuition increased by $125.00 per session
