4294. KOSCIUSKO (General), Affection for.—

For yourself, personally, I May
express with safety as well as truth, my great
esteem, and the interest I feel for your welfare.
From the same principles of caution, I do not
write to my friend Kosciusko. I know he is
always doing what he thinks is right, and he
knows my prayers for his success in whatever
he does. Assure him of my constant affection
* * *.—
To Julian V. Niemcewicz. Washington ed. v, 72. [276]
(April. 1807)

Kosciusko returned to Europe under the assumed
name of Niemcewicz. Editor.
