2099. DEBTS DUE BRITISH, Virginia Loan and.—
A citizen of the Commonwealth [of Virginia], who is debtor to a British subject,
may lodge the money due, or any part
thereof, in the * * * loan office, accounting
sixteen pence of the lawful money of the Commonwealth,
or two-thirds of a dollar in bills of
credit there current, equal to twelve pence of
any such debt payable in the debtor's name,
signed by the commissioner of the loan office,
and delivering the same to the Governor whose
receipt shall discharge the debt. [127]
