Route: Indian Springs to Jackson, then Ga 16 via
Monticello & Sparta to a dirt rd N of Warthen. E &
S via Deepstep to Ga 24 & Louisville for the
night. Various other dirt rd side excursions up Jackson
Lake etc in search of Speciosum. Saw none, however
all day. With the exception of a 10 mi stretch S. of
Sparta & around Sandersville most of the time was on
red clay hills & azaleas were scarce. Directly the
yellow sandy phase appeared they became plentiful.
Some canescens, however, collected in most counties.
