Fragment L. 1628.
Smith'S COMMENDATORY VERSES
for Robert Norton
[Source: Robert Norton, The Gunner (London, 1628).]
Although Norton's The Gunner was entered for publication on December 27,
1627, it was apparently not published for another three months or more (the
legal year 1628 began on March 25, as we already know). Smith's signature
as "Hungariensis" may have been a little joke between him and Norton, but
in any case shows what he meant by including himself among the "Soldiers."
In the due Honor of the Author Master
Robert Norton, and his Worke.
Robert Norton, and his Worke.
