1. Not yet identified, although Sir Bowyer and Sir Richard Worsley are known
patentees of lands in Virginia. Both men were of the Isle of Wight and are said to have
been friends of Capt. Robert Gosnold during his stay there. Robert was a first cousin of
Capt. Bartholomew Gosnold, explorer of New England and vice-admiral of the original
Jamestown fleet. All of this seems to point to some connection between the writer of the
verses and the two knights.
