Where Staubbach gathers strength within the wood
To pour itself in music to the vale,
The rest-house stands, whose welcome cannot fail
For all who deem that shade and song are good.
Here, when the midday sun with silver flood
Pours over Jungfrau, and the Monk is pale,
Oft have I listened to the traveller's tale,
And known the joy of wandering brotherhood.

Bring with them scent of pines and sight of flowers,
And the continual sound of falling streams,
The glowing mountains minister to dreams
Of cloudless sun, perpetual summer hours,
And not a man but feels his fellow friend.
