DAVID'S WISH.

Psalm xvii. 5.

Hold up my goings in thy righteous way,
Lest pride beguile me, and my footsteps stray;
Lest, wand'ring wide, I quit the narrow path,
Aggrieve thy spirit, and incur thy wrath;
Provoke thy mercy to resign her care,
And give me over to its own despair.
