KIRKE WHITE.

Kind and true-hearted was thy youthful life,
In every manly attribute most rife;
Rich in a mind rare cultured, and which sought
Knowledge with pursuit keen, and ever thought
Each effort well repaid that learning brought.
Wise thought on such as thee doth cheer the heart,
Having their course before us as a chart,
In which is shown a way whereby each one,
Though sore the toil and scorching be Life's sun,
Elated shall receive God's glad “Well done.”
