HYMN 69. The Ax lifted up: Or, Wrath Pursuing the Sinner.

O Lord, thou Just and Holy One,
wee the Admire do,
That Fruitless Trees are not cut down;
this doth thy Mercy show:

Thy Ax is up, O let us fear,
for thou most Righteous art,
The natural branches did'st not spare;
therefore with trembling Heart

Let sinners now to Jesus fly,
that grafted they may be
In him, by Faith, most speedily;
no other way can we

Find out, for to escape thy Wrath;
and blessed be thy Name,
That ever Jesus, out of Love,
to Save us, hither came.

O let us all good Trees be found,
and fruitful also be;
Make thou our Hearts Sincere and Sound,
and we'll rejoyce in Thee;

And sing thy Praise, O Lord, most High,
for we have Blessings store;
Help us dear God, our Wants supply,
and we'll sing Evermore.
