Give me, Charlotte, e'er we part,
Some dear token of your heart:
Look on me, and let me spy,
In the language of your eye,
Gentle pardon of my Love,
Smiling grace, that may remove
Fear, and doubt, and dull despair:—
Smile; and I will fancy there
Soft compassion of my flame,
Love, that comes in Friendship's name;
Leave to hope for future bliss:—
Weep, and I am sure of this!
