[Poems by Cary in] The Poetical Works Of Alice and Phoebe Cary
Cary, Phoebe (1824-1871)
A MEMORIAL OF ALICE AND PHŒBE CARY
[I see the lights of the village]
[I see the lights of the baker]
KATE KETCHEM.
[And hark! there is something strange about]
[And yet it almost makes me weep]
[The veil of flesh that hid]
BORDER-LAND.
FIELD PREACHING.
NEARER HOME.
[O mine eyes, be not so tearful]
[If still they kept their earthly place]
MORAL LESSONS.
[Go on, my friend, speak freely, pray]
ADVICE GRATIS TO CERTAIN WOMEN.
WAS HE HENPECKED?
[Let your warm hands chill not, slipping]
PHŒBE CARY'S POEMS.

[The veil of flesh that hid]
“The veil of flesh that hid
Is softly drawn aside;
More clearly I behold them now,
Than those who never died.”
