University Sets
Traffic Survey

The University will conduct a traffic
survey tomorrow as part of a study aimed
at designing a comprehensive parking and
traffic plan.

A questionnaire designed to survey
parking patterns and traffic flow to and
from the Grounds will be distributed to
University students, faculty and staff,
including Medical Center personnel, during
a peak traffic period between 11 a.m.
and noon. Nearly 10,000 cars are registered
with the University's department of security, of
which some 5,000 student cars are not
permitted to be parked on the main Grounds
during the day except with special permits.

The University's traffic control committee
will distribute the questionnaire which was
designed by Kimley-Horn Associates, traffic
consultants of Raleigh. The survey, to provide a
statistical sampling of traffic flow and parking
patterns during a peak traffic period, is part of
a traffic study which began last August.
