The President proposed and the Board adopted the following resolution

RESOLVED by the Board of Visitors of The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that
the following faculty members be and they are hereby granted leave of absence

Mr. Joseph L. Blotner, Associate Professor of English, for one year, effective 1 September 1963,
without pay, to lecture in American Literature at the University of Copenhagen under a Fulbright Award.

Mr. Paul M. Gaston, Assistant Professor of History, for one year, effective 1 September 1963,
without pay, to accept a visiting assistant professorship at The Johns Hopkins University

Mr. Omer A. Gianniny, Jr., Assistant Professor of English in the School of Engineering and
Applied Science, for one year, effective 1 September 1963, with half pay, for the purpose of study
toward a Doctor of Education degree at the University of Virginia

Mr. Charles Kaut, Associate Professor of Sociology and Anthropology, for two years, effective
1 September 1963, without pay, to undertake research in anthropology in the Philippines under a
grant from the National Science Foundation

Mr. Larry N. Mann, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, for one year, effective 1 September 1963,
without pay, to accept a one-year appointment with the Institute for Defense Analyses at Princeton,
New Jersey

Dr. Frank G. Moody, Assistant Professor of Surgery, for one year, effective 1 July 1963,
without pay, to continue research at the University of California
