81 How an Asse may proue an Elephant.

It hath beene said, to giue good spirits hope,
A Knight may proue a King, a Clarke, a Pope.
But our yong spirits disdaining all old Rules,
Compar'd by holy Writ, to Horse and Mules:
'Tis vaine with ancient Prouerbs, to prouoke
To vertuous course, with these such beare no stroke.
Then their old pride, let my new Prouerb dant,
An Asse may one day proue an Elephant.
