Oculus Britanniae An Heroi-Panegyrical poem on the University of Oxford. Illustrated with divers beautiful Similes, and useful Digressions [by Nicholas Amhurst] |
Oculus Britanniae | ||
Hail charming fair! O! may'st thou ever prove
Free from the bane and pestilence of love;
Long may'st thou live, a soft luxurious life,
By turns of twenty colleges the wife,
With charms unfading glut the studious swains,
The favourite Toast of all our Oxford plains.
Free from the bane and pestilence of love;
Long may'st thou live, a soft luxurious life,
By turns of twenty colleges the wife,
With charms unfading glut the studious swains,
The favourite Toast of all our Oxford plains.
