VI.

The silken Purse, of magic art,
Wrought exquisite in every part,
As though from woof ethereal spun,
With radiant hues bathed in the sun,
She fain to Edwy's hand would bind;
But he the gorgeous gift declined,
Though all its netted folds agnize
Pearl, gold, and gem of richest price.
His chalice, from the spring supplied,
He renders to her hands of pride.
“The waters of St. Loy are free,
“So be to all my charity.”
