Upon LOVE.

Upon LOVE.

An Epigram.

Why do we doat on charming Chloe's Face,
And pine and languish for her soft Embrace?
Since, when she's granted what we're fond to take,
We slight her Favours, and the Nymph forsake.

Then let's not love, unless we can be kind,
And still content with the Remains we find;
Else we are Fools to covet such a Prize,
Which, when obtain'd, we lessen and despise.
