Epig. XI. In Poeticam & paupertatem.

Twixt Poetrie and pouertie is found
Congruitie in sense as well as sound.
The cause is this: when Poetrie did aime
Beyond blind fortunes flight to follow fame,


Fortune tooke V. in Poetrie to place it
Twixt O. and E. with R. so to disgrace it.
But Gramer did denie; then Fortune swore
In spight of Gramer Poets should be poore.
