[Now when this bottle is grown old]
Now when this bottle is grown oldAnd that it will no longer hold,
Out of the side you may cut a clout,
To mend your shoe when worn out;
Or hang the other side on a pin,
'Twill serve to put many odd trifles in,
As nails, awls, and candles' ends;
For young beginners need such things.
I wish in Heaven his soul man dwell
That first invented the Leathern Bottle.
