When ill-conducted skirmishes had fail'd,
Has not the valour of her son prevail'd?
To JOHNSON's arms America we owe,
To him the humbling of the vaunting foe?
When Braddock fail'd, America was gone,
George said, “Let Johnson fight,” and 'twas re-won.
