We'll to the bower in yonder vale,
And sit on banks of roses,
There tell of artless love's soft tale,
Or braid our locks with posies;
But hark! a bird from yonder spray,
Sweetly sings, and seems to say,
“Maids beware, nor warning scorn,
The sweetest rose can bear a thorn.”
