Epig. 21. To Mr. Glascow, a solution of his Question, what Wit is, and who ought chiefly to drink Sherrie.

Hee's wittie, and be onely, that can speak
Things little greatly, and things dull and weake
In their own entity, can so embelish
With flowry eloquence, that they shall relish
The nicest pallat, can make Barren things
And empty, honoured as the Acts of Kings,

51

Rendering them fruitfully, and fully too,
The man (my Glascow) that these things can do
May be called wittie, for his skill Divine,
And worth the favour of the God of Wine.
