Gentlemen:

"We have refrained from making
any statement about our basketball
situation in the past few weeks. At
this time, there is one point on
which we think some explanation
will be useful. Some reports have
suggested that the election of this
year's co-captains by the players
was disregarded. This is not the
case. As in past years, the coaches,
as well as the players, voted, and
the result of that election was as
announced.

Although it has been the practice
for coaches to vote in past
years, it is unfortunate that this
procedure was not understood.

We have assurances that this
misunderstanding will not occur in
the future."
