The ash Ygdrasil trembles, and the GodsMake ready for the contest; the alarms
Have reached the holiest abodes,
And Odin buckles on his arms:
Thor grasps his mace, and now on either hand
The holy deities determined stand.
Strong whirlwinds sweep the earth, and from their base
Huge mountains are uptorn; the quaking world
