When Rome was in her Cradle, Remus Bloud,Wash'd her Foundation; with a crimson Floud.
Not to be lull'd by Peace could she dispence;
As if Bellona's, choicest Residence.
This made the City, far unfit to be,
A Chair of State, to Supreme Majesty.
But in Augustus Reign, fierce Mars did cease:
And from mean Houses he rais'd Palaces.
