But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, &c.

He sees him with the Saviour's eyes,
(Eyes that in thickest darkness see,)
In vehemence of affection cries,
As taught by Jesus on the tree,
Evil to recompense with good,
And save the foes who shed his blood.
