This speech loud murmurs followed of applause,
Sent from the hosts of Cain: but, on the part
Of the mixed race, disapprobation rose.
Then weapons were unsheathed, and blood was shed
Betwixt the opposing creeds; and more had been,
But that Azaradel, and Tubalcain
Together spake, apart. Soon both exclaimed:
‘Bring forth the Prophet. Let the gods decide.’
—At once arose the universal shout,
‘Bring forth the Prophet.’
