SONG.

[Love, one summer day]

Love, one summer day,
Sitting on a spray,
High in the liquid air did frame his note;
All the woods were still,
Shepherds on the hill
Stayed when they heard the echoes fall and float.
And the voice of Love
So the earth did move
That the broad swelling hills did clasp and kiss;
And the tender sky,
Quivering on high,
Stooped as to listen to that song of his.
And the singer sang
Till his music rang

Loud, louder yet, that fading land around;
And did softly steep
All the world in sleep,
Till heaven itself grew faint with fragrant sound.
