Student Representation

Every committee in the University which is
concerned with growth now has substantial
student representation, larger by far than in any
previous year and painstaking designation by
Student Council and in committee
consultations by my office with you. But these
committees are only beginning their work. The
immediate future of the University will not
depend on what I alone do. It will depend on
what these committees do internally and what
the legislature and its committees do externally.

Your Tuesday pretest will be ill-received by
the Board of Visitors and State Officials who
have hitherto given generously of their time and
attention to student representations. They
expect something more from University of
Virginia students than expressions of
"frustration."
