Mr. Jefferson's Serpentine Walls were covered in snow yesterday when the winter's first major snowstorm blanketed a large portion of the Eastern Seaboard with up to eight inches of snow. Early last night, Charlottesville had received 2 1/2 inches of snow, with predictions that the city might get another two inches. The weather bureau predicted that it would be clearing today, but don't believe it. While it was snowing hard yesterday afternoon and most sources called for more, the recorded message on the telephone was steadfastly predicting rain and thunderstorms.
