And took and circumcised him because of the, &c. —xvi. 3.

The pastor good and wise
Doth hindrances remove,
And every just expedient tries
Of condescending love.
He gives his freedom up
(Yet pure from guile or sin)
All things becomes to all, in hope
Some precious souls to win.
