Bonds for ornaments we take
When our faith by bonds is tried:
Jesus bore them for our sake,
Bore, ennobled, sanctified:
Suffering for His cause alone
Confessors of Jesus' name
Sing we into dangers thrown,
Glory in our Master's shame.
