Power, wisdom, learning all combine,
Churchmen and seculars agree
To frustrate, Lord, Thy love's design,
And stop the men sent forth by Thee:
But lo, by all the world forsook,
Like those who first Thy grace made known,
With stronger confidence we look
For promised help to Thee alone.
