The Life and Death of John Brentius, who dyed Anno Christi 1570.
298
From place, to place, his courage never fail'd;
But with resolved Constancy, he bent
His minde to suffer, free from discontent:
The rage of Papists could not make him yeeld
To their desires; True vertue was his shield;
The strength of his afflictions added strength
Unto his soul, his suffrings had no length
Except of dayes, and them he knew to be
But servile Subjects to Mortality:
Thus like a patient sufferer he fled
From earth, to heaven, and there repos'd his head.
