this family of Westmoreland County. References to
slavery include a December 31, 1863, letter
from Henry Taylor refusing to hire out his slave
to Thomas Watson because the slave was previously
returned from Watson without the usual clothes provided and a June 5, 1865 letter of William Robertson in Charlottesville
to Henry Taylor discussing and outlining the
results of a meeting of "Masters" about how they would handle emancipation.
