Where was a garden, into the which He, &c.
—xviii. 1.
For evil in a garden done
Christ in a garden must atone:
Freely He comes by suffering there
Our loss of Eden to repair,
Bears in the memorable place
The sins of our devoted race,
Takes on Himself the wrath of God,
To quench it with His tears and blood.
