XV. THE JOURNEY.

We're on a journey brief; the day is bright,
“And our thoughts joyous—that we shall not tire.”
We're on a journey that is infinite;
'Mid an eternal change of sun and cloud,
Cold winter showerings and hot summer fire;
Breathed on by zephyrs, struck by whirlwinds loud;
And our thoughts, floating through eternity,
Are lapt by turns in joy and agony,
In glory and in gloom; and if fatigue
Assail us not in our unresting travel,
'Tis that we make with our own souls a league
Not to look far before, but on our road
Glance round and feel employ'd: would we unravel
The Immensity beyond? We lift a weary load.
