EPIGRAM the First. To Phillis.

How have I prais'd thy Cheeks where Roses blow!
How dwell'd with Wonder on thy sable Bow!
How have I, well thou know'st, fatigu'd my Eyes
On the dear Lips where Coral seem'd to rise!
What Sighs I gave thee at the parting Look,
And fond the Work of Art for Nature took!
The Charm is ended: I my Heart command,
And when I praise thee next shall praise thy Hand.
