Home of the earthquake! land where Tell
Bared his great bosom to his God, and fell,

Like his own Alpine-torrent, on his country's foe;
Land of the unerring shaft and warrior-bow;
The upward Eagle—and the bounding Doe:—
The shaggy wolf—and the eternal flow
Of cloud-nursed streams, and everlasting snow.
