film is a savage and technically
brilliant film that intersperses
matricide with fratricide and
throws in a little incest for
relief. Bellocchio exhibits one
of the most fluid camera
techniques this side of Max
Ophuls, but despite all the
films virtues one often wonders
if all the energy and techniques
have a final goal.
