[Conviction is from God]

Since the world began was it not heard, &c. —ix. 32.

Conviction is from God:
Since first the world began,
Was never man who knew or show'd
The sinfulness of man:
The Spirit of truth alone
Of unbelief reproves,
He makes the human darkness known,
And by His light removes.
