NIGHT IN JUNE.

When the northern summer unfolds
Her gates, at the bidding of June,
Then is night but the spirit of day;
On her brow is the crescent moon;
In her right hand low she holds
The vanished sunset's ray;
In her left she lifts the boon
Of the dawning, rose and gray.
