CHAPTER VII. The poetical works of John and Charles Wesley | ||
1795.
[Who love the praise of men]
For neither did His brethren believe in Him.
—vii. 5.

Though walking in a shadow vain
Of formal godliness;
They slight the Saviour's word
Who seek their own renown,
Refuse their self denying Lord,
His sufferings and His crown.
