EPIGRAM.

[_]
THE RIVALS.

On the Publications of the Microcosm, a periodical paper by the Students of Eton College, about the year 1790, a similar work was brought out by the Gentlemen of Harrow on the Hill. The latter was adorned with a Frontispiece, representing the two publications suspended in a balance, the former of which is made to “kick the beam.” This invidious allegory occasioned the following Epigram.

What mean ye by this print so rare?
Ye wits, of Eton jealous:
Behold! your rivals soar in air,
And ye are heavy-fellows!
